Dale Dye

Stunt Grunts is very fortunate to have as our friend and teacher Dale Dye, a multi-talented man whose original vision of actor training continues to inspire. Our continuing professional relationship brings realism to any military work and high standards of accuracy, intelligence, and heart.

Captain Dale Dye, U.S. Marine Corps, Retired, is a highly decorated soldier, technician and military historian with combat experience around the world. His unique approach to film making provides a special touch of veracity, flair and color to all his projects. You can see the effect of his input on such highly acclaimed films as Platoon (Academy Award for Best Picture), Saving Private Ryan, Casualties of War, Forrest Gump and many others listed below.

His military career began with his graduation as a cadet officer from Missouri Military Academy, after which he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in January, 1964. He served in Vietnam in 1965 and 1967 through 1970, surviving 31 major combat operations. He emerged from Southeast Asia highly decorated including three Purple Hearts for wounds suffered in combat, Bronze Star with "V" for Valor, a Navy Commendation Medal with Combat "V" Device (he earned a second in Beirut), the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, and more.

He spent 13 years as an enlisted Marine, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant before he was chosen to attend Officer Candidate School. Appointed a Warrant Officer in 1976, he later converted his commission and was a Captain when he was sent to Beirut with the Multinational Peacekeeping Force in 1982-83.

Dye worked for a year at "Soldier of Fortune" Magazine when he finally decided to retire in 1984. He spent time in Central America, reporting and training troops in guerilla warfare techniques in both El Salvador and Nicaragua before leaving the magazine in 1985 and heading for Hollywood.

Warriors, Inc., founded and primarily operated by Captain Dye, is a unique organization that provides Technical Advisory services to the entertainment industry worldwide.
